Craven Children’s Mathematics Network
Group
We are a group of practitioners and
parents in North Yorkshire. We are currently all from Embsay
Children’s Centre in Skipton, but would welcome anyone in the area
who is interested to join us. We believe that mathematics,
particularly in the early years is often misunderstood and we are
working to try and understand mathematics and children’s ideas and
concepts in relation to mathematics in greater depth. Maulfry
Worthington and Elizabeth Carruthers have done some brilliant work
in this area and we are using this to help us understand our
children’s ideas and representations.
It is often very difficult for parents
and practitioners to find time for regular meetings so although we
are planning a few meetings based around social events, we plan to
have much of our discussion via email, so don’t be put off joining
us by lack of time!
You can contact us by email via Caroline
Midgley,
cm@embsaychildrenscentre.co.uk
or by telephone 01756 793286
We look forward to hearing from you
