Children Thinking Mathematically (Dec, 2009).
In 2008 the final
report of the
Williams Maths Review was published. Chapter 3 of the report
featured our work on children’s mathematical graphics and
made a number of
recommendations for those working in this phase. One of the main
recommendations (no. 4) of the report was that the DCSF commission
materials on children’s mathematical graphics and
mathematical development.
The DCSF
commissioned Elizabeth Carruthers and Maulfry Worthington to write
this new publication (with the exception of pages 47-50 from the
PSRN website – DCSF). Chapter 3 of the booklet focuses on children’s
mathematical graphics and there are further examples threaded
throughout.
